A Welcome from Our Founder – Steven Sammut
“Music changes lives. I’ve seen it. I’ve lived it. And at The Rock and Pop Foundation, we make sure it happens every single day.”
When I founded the Rock and Pop Foundation back in 1995, it was with one simple but powerful belief: every young person deserves the chance to discover their musical voice. Not just to learn an instrument, but to connect, create, and gain confidence through music – no matter their background or ability.
As a professional musician, I understood the joys and challenges of this path. I wanted to create an organisation that supports musicians as educators, respects the art form, and genuinely partners with schools to deliver something exceptional. We are not just a service provider – we are an educational partner, a creative hub, and a national community of music-makers.
Today, The Rock and Pop Foundation stands as the UK’s first independent contemporary music hub. We are proud to have taught thousands of children across the country, delivering in-school instrumental tuition, band experiences, composition support, and enrichment programmes that go far beyond traditional music lessons.
Behind the scenes, our dedicated head office team works tirelessly to support every tutor, every school, and every student. Our team is built on care, professionalism, and a deep-rooted passion for music education. That’s why so many of our musicians stay with us year after year – because they know they’re valued, supported, and part of something meaningful.
Whether you're a school leader, a parent, a musician, or a young student – welcome. You're not just joining a programme. You're joining a movement to inspire, empower and elevate the next generation through music.
Let’s make music matter – together.
